Fear Helps the Other Team Win

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

2 Timothy 1:7

A good friend of mine once told me, “Fear helps the other team win.” This is so true. Fear is not on your side. Fear is one of the biggest enemies to your life in righteousness and you will not truly succeed until you conquer it. Acting on God’s Word is the remedy for fear. It’s going to take more than just reading and quoting the Scriptures. You must step out in faith by taking action. The devil uses fear, but God uses faith. Faith is what God uses to connect people to life, and fear is what the devil uses to connect you to bondage. Fear only connects you to the very thing that you’re afraid of.

“The worst of my fears has come true, what I’ve dreaded most has happened.”

Job 3:25 MSG

Fear is torment. Fear will paralyze you. It will cause you to procrastinate. It will cause you to avoid flying in airplanes. Fear is what terrorists use for ammunition. Fear will hold you back.

“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’”

Romans 8:15

The Scripture says that you did not receive the spirit of bondage “again” to fear. In other words, you were born with fear. But when you got born again, you received the Spirit of adoption and was delivered from the spirit of fear.

But fear is just like faith:

  • Faith comes by hearing and understanding God’s Word.
  • Fear comes by hearing and understanding the devil’s words.

  • Understanding God’s Word produces faith.
  • Understanding the devil’s words produce fear.

You must stop listening to the devil’s words. Don’t pay attention to him. When you focus on the news and the media, you are listening to the devil’s words. Of course you should keep up with current events, but don’t let those words outweigh God’s Word. Don’t spend more time listening to the media news than you do the Good News.

“Little children (believers, dear ones), you are of God and you belong to Him and have [already] overcome them [the agents of the antichrist]; because He who is in you is greater than he (Satan) who is in the world [of sinful mankind].”

1 John 4:4 AMP

The Spirit that lives inside of you is greater than the economy.

God is greater than a recession.

He’s greater than category 5 hurricanes.

We can take all of our problems of the world and put them in a single huge pile, and it still wouldn’t be bigger than our God.

God is bigger than our problems.

He’s bigger than our struggle.

If you don’t realize that, then you really have a big problem. God is greater than anything and everything. And all of this greatness lives inside of you.

“I will not be afraid, because the LORD is with me. People can’t do anything to me.”

Psalm 118:6 NCV

If God is on your side, then what person or thing can defeat you (Romans 8:31)? You have the Most High God on your side. He’s on your team. He is rooting for you. He will help you if you keep your trust in Him. God…helps your team win.

“Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with my [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.”

Isaiah 41:10 AMP

Break the power of fear off your life! Spend your time focused on how great God is, instead of how great the problem is.  Remember, God is here and He will never leave you or abandon you. Develop your trust in Him and boldly declare, “I will not fear! God is on my side, so I’m a winner in Jesus’ name.”
