“When you get saved, everything’s going to be alright…

Let Jesus in your heart and all of your troubles will go away…

Just receive salvation, and then all of your pain will be gone…”

Have you ever heard this before? You know, ignorant Christians promising sinners the perfect life after they get saved. Many of us thought that when we got saved, all of our problems would go away. Well, I’m sure by now you know that’s not true. As a matter of fact, in some instances it seemed to get worse. And because many people believe this myth, they are shocked and caught off guard when troubles come.

“You must realize that obstacles are going to come against you and your vision. Even though God gave the vision, that doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy to obtain. Please don’t think that you are exempt from this reality. Trouble isn’t going to say about you, ‘I guess I’ll just leave him alone.’ When you decided to be somebody, everything is going to try to get in the way of your vision. You must be prepared for the challenges, for they are coming.”

- Dr. Myles Munroe

When you are faced with challenges, there’s often a temptation to quit. Sometimes you just want to give up. You may want to throw in the towel. But I’m going to let you in on something – Quitting is not an option for the Believer. Why? If you choose to give up, then you’ll be living a life that God didn’t design for you to live. He designed and equipped you to win. You are the righteousness of God and as the righteousness of God, winning is your only option.

“I move on toward the goal to win the prize. God has appointed me to win it. The heavenly prize is Christ Jesus Himself.”  Philippians 3:14 NIRV

A good friend of mine once told me, “No matter what happens…find a way to win…because that’s what winners do…and you’re a winner too.” This is so true. There’s always a way to win. It’s your job; it’s your duty; it’s your responsibility to find out how.

Have you ever seen the movie “The Pursuit of Happyness” starring Will Smith? It’s a true story about a salesman named Chris Gardner who was struggling to build a future for himself, his 5-year old son, and his son’s mother. He made a poor business decision, therefore he was unable to pay the rent, the bills, and was barely able to buy food. He finally decided that he wanted a better life and thought about being a stockbroker. His son’s mother didn’t believe in him and she eventually left the family. Therefore, it was just him and his son. He first had to do an internship with no pay and hopefully out of 20 people he would be the one they picked. The chances of that happening were very slim. Chris could have given up, but instead he persisted. Chris and his son eventually got evicted and they were homeless. But Chris didn’t give up. They were sleeping on the streets, in shelters, and even in a metro station bathroom. But Chris was still showing up as an intern with a shirt and tie on. Because of his perseverance, he was eventually picked. He became a Wall Street legend and became a multi-millionaire. Chris Gardner is a winner, because he didn’t give up. He found a way to win. Here’s a powerful statement that Chris Gardner told his 5-year old son that we can still use today:

“Don’t ever let somebody tell you that you can’t do something, not even me. You got a dream? You’ve got to protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they want to tell you that you can’t do it. If you want something, go get it, PERIOD.”

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”

Galatians 6:9 NLT

Don’t give up. Don’t quit. God created you to win… so WIN!
