FORGIVENESS Works Better than Stones

“Don’t say, ‘I will get even for this wrong.’

Wait for the Lord to handle the matter.”

Proverbs 20:22 NLT

Thank you for taking the time to read this Magazine article. It says a lot. It means a lot. You mean a lot. Continue to support me as I continue to pour the Word of God into your life. I have a special message that I want to share with called, “FORGIVENESS Works Better Than Stones.“ Read it. Receive it. Apply it. And share it. Are you ready? Let’s go!

Nobody’s Qualified

One day Jesus was at the Temple teaching many people around Him. Then some religious scholars and Pharisees brought to Jesus a woman who was caught in an adulterous act. They drug her in front of everybody.

“Teacher, this woman was caught red-handed in the act of adultery. Moses, in the Law, gives orders to stone such persons. What do You say?”  John 8:4-5 MSG

They were asking this to trick Jesus. They were trying to trap Him into saying something that they could use against Him. But Jesus, with all wisdom and coolness, bent down and began writing in the dirt as if He didn’t even hear them. So they asked Him the question again and again, pushing the issue. Finally Jesus stood up and said,

“If any of you have never sinned, then go ahead and throw the first stone at her!”  John 8:7 CEV

IT’S RAINING ROCKS!

Immediately after Jesus said this, He bent down and continued to write in the dirt.

“Thump.”

This was the sound of the stone dropping out of the oldest man’s hand. Then he walked away.

“Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump…”

They all began to walk away one by one, from the oldest to the youngest. Finally, Jesus and the woman were alone. No one threw a stone. Why? Everyone has sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). Jesus set a standard that no one could qualify for. Nobody was qualified to stone this woman…but Jesus was. Jesus never sinned. Jesus was well qualified and He could have stoned her…but He didn’t. He could have rightfully accused her, but that’s not what happened. When Jesus and the woman were alone, He stood up and said to her,

“Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?”

“No, Lord,” she said.

And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.”  John 8:10-11 NLT

Look at how good our Lord is. This changed that woman’s life. “Accusing” her didn’t change her. “Judging” her didn’t change her. Throwing stones at her wouldn’t have helped. Jesus, the only One qualified to stone her, chose “forgiveness” instead. The same hand that could have stoned her, He used it to lift her up instead. The mouth that could have condemned her, He used it to speak Life. He could have pointed His finger at her in judgment, but He used His finger to write in the dirt. But what about you? What do you do when you catch people in the wrong? Are you throwing stones or reaching out? Are you pointing your finger in judgment or are you pointing them in the right direction? Are you spreading gossip or sharing the gospel? When you get a hold of the Rock, you’ll drop your stones. Choose forgiveness and change somebody’s life. Do it TODAY.
