God’s Way vs The World’s Way

Article by Adrienna Turner

As believers, we have heard a number of times this passage: 1 John 4:4 says,

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

Therefore, some people believe everything they read or hear. There are many things that are said on the news or printed are not true. We know the ruler of the world is Satan, or the enemy of God. Christians should have faith, and seek after discernment to not be so gullible and believe everything that the world offers. We have a greater power that lives inside of us once we become believers, that is the Holy Spirit, which Jesus left behind once he left this world the first time. Yet Jesus the Christ will return a second time, or second coming. Even if a person says this is from God, or Jesus, and if the message is truly from God, it will be consistent with Christ’s teachings. As others would say, “It would have to line up with Scriptures, the Word of God, because this is our final authority.”

Now let’s analyze a little deeper with this Scripture above. We are God’s as you read further in this passage if you look at verse 6. In verse 5 says “they” are of the world. The Antichrist will be a person who epitomizes all that is evil and he will be readily received by an evil world. But if we are of God, we have overcome “them” in the world. The “spirit of the antichrist” is already here. Even as believers, we can be scared or frightened by wickedness, we see around us and become overwhelmed by the problems we face. It will appear that evil is much stronger than we are. John assures us, however, that God is even more powerful and stronger. He will conquer all evil, remember that His Spirit and His Word lives in our hearts and spirits!

Be mindful that those who are in the world can be false teachers are popular just as there were false prophets in the Old Testament. John warns believers who faithfully teach God’s Word will not win popularity contests in the world. We are separate but have to live in this world, yet we are different than those of the world.

In the Old Testament, in the book of Genesis (the beginning), there is a story about Babel, where men and women got together to build a tower as tall as the heavenly skies to be as gods. God wasn’t pleased with what His creation was doing, and to build a kingdom in the heavens. Satan, referring to the story of King Tyre, who also wanted his kingdom in the heavens. So God changed their language and no longer spoke a common language to cause confusion among them to stop this production. (See Genesis 11).

So I am very adamant about whether following the way of the world and how they perceive things in the last few years. Many Christians think they can have one foot in the door of the church (which symbolizes godly life) and another foot in the clubs (which symbolizes worldly life). But the Bible clearly tells us that we cannot serve two masters. We are either going to live a life of righteousness and holiness or ungodliness that is displeasing to God. Seems like once you get in your thirties, you become a bit wiser, and learned that I only want to go God’s way and not my way. Because I have done things MY WAY in my college years and even younger years, not anymore. I will stand firm in my faith and belief from this point on. Although I got my degrees, I realized that I did it based on what others thought such as where I was talented, skilled, or gifted in, now I see when choosing the right career path is to abide to God’s path. Moreover, I have made my career choices without first discovering God’s purpose, but knew He was with me along the way! I also learned that these are ways to prepare us for the major life change when we start to walk into the career choice God has for us, since He knew us before the foundation of this world (Romans 11:29 says, For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable.) God shared with me one day driving home from church that I am positioning you in a field where I need people to represent me to demonstrate integrity and faithfulness in a world that is blinded by greed, powers, and following man-made laws. Moreover to “defend the weak” and be an advocate for believers.

Dr. Creflo A. Dollar quotes, “We don’t get to choose the path God has set for our lives; we discover it by seeking Him for direction before we pursue our own plan. No matter what career we choose, we will find true success only in what God has called us to do.” (page 135 of “The Holy Spirit, your Financial Advisor”). I cannot wait to attest to this once I fulfill the will of God. I know the calling God has on my life, and attest to it in my writings, now to live it in color, is more scarier than I ever imagined. But I am ready to defeat the giant(s) in my life and proceed with the mission since He has laid the foundation and clearly told me why I am lead to do this profession and future schooling.

So believers do not be afraid of what God has for you, and called you to pursue. For it is already in you because God placed those talents and gifts in you already. It cannot be reversed or changed to fit your needs. Do not be afraid of the enemy and his devices because we have greater power and speak things with authority, he will flee. He will not come after me because He knows that Jesus Christ lives inside of me and ready to activate that power in this hour. I will stand firm, and do things God’s way. Release the increase, the power you possess too…and you will be transformed to activate your supernatural powers!

You see with the one example what happened to those who tried to do it their way with the tower of Babel, or allowed the evilness to reside in their hearts and the tower was destroyed! They spoke in many languages and unable to understand each other, only confused. When God is speaking to us, we will have peace and understanding not confusion.
