Is God for YOU?

“What then shall we say to these things? ‘If God is for us, who can be against us?’”  Romans 8:31

The above Scripture is one of my favorites. It’s a promise from God that is so assuring. But let’s break down the verse to get its full meaning.

“IF GOD IS FOR US…”

Notice the first word in this Scripture is the word “if”, rather than the word “since”.  The word “if” means on the condition that. In other words, there’s a certain condition where God is for you. I know you may have expected a more super spiritual answer like—“God is for everybody…” But if that were the case, the Scripture would have used the word “since” rather than “if”. So let me ask the question again—“Is God for you?”

Yes, God is for you, but He’s not for your foolishness. He’s for you, but He won’t support your bad decisions. For example, don’t constantly eat unhealthy, but wonder why you’re still sick. Don’t cheat on your spouse, but wonder why the marriage isn’t working. Don’t make a mess and expect Him to bless it. It’s vital that you stay in the will of God. Obey God’s Word and be attentive to the Holy Spirit. Allow Him to lead, guide, and direct you. When you live under God’s authority, He will surely be for you.

“…WHO CAN BE AGAINST US?’” 

There are a lot of things that come against us:

·         Sickness

·         Poverty

·         Addiction

·         Confusion

·         Mediocrity

·         Haters

·         …and so much more.
 

Many things come at you, but the Good News is this—If God is on your side, what enemy or foe can come against you? Think about it. If God is on your team, what other team can win? Connect with God and stay in His presence. Stay in God’s will…and you’ll stay in the win.
