“No Passion, No Fruit”

By Billie Miller “The Motivational Minister”

“Passion says, ‘You might as well give up, because I’m not going to quit. If you knock me down, I’m going to get up. If you knock me down again, I’m going to get up again. I’m going to keep getting up until you get tired of knocking me down.’ Get up and get on with it! There is no life without passion.” ~ Dr. Myles Munroe

Sharon was a young lady who struggled financially and was tired of working minimum wage jobs. Sharon heard that nurses make a lot of money, and thought to herself, “I’ll go to college and major in nursing.” So that’s what she did. Things started off well for Sharon but then something interesting happened. She was faced with cleaning up a patient’s solid matter. LOL. In other words, she had to clean up an elderly adult who pooped on herself. She thought to herself, “I can’t do this!” So can you guess what Sharon did? She quit the nursing program and changed majors. Was it wrong for Sharon to want more pay? Was it wrong for her to want a great career? Of course not! The issue was that Sharon chose a major that she wasn’t passionate about. Her only drive for the position was money. It wasn’t that she loved helping people or she had a knack for it, she just wanted better pay. When you let money drive you rather than passion, you’ll crash every time.

Lack of passion is the reason for many business failures, ministry breakdowns, and dreams unfulfilled. If you want to succeed as a Christian, you must have passion. You must continue to refuel it, so it remains fresh and new. What is passion?

Passion – intense, driving, or overmastering feeling; an energetic pursuit of an aim or devotion to a cause; a strong liking, delight, or desire for some activity, object, or concept; a strong desire or zeal; a hunger or appetite; to have tenacity and courage; not easily pulled apart; persistent in maintaining or clinging to something valuable.

Do you have zeal for your business? Do you have tenacity for ministry? Do you have a hunger, desire, and appetite in your heart for the things of God?

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6

Without passion, you’ll go through the motions, but you will never reach your destination. Too many people begin but never finish. Many get off to a good start but when pressure comes, they quit. They give up too soon. It takes little effort to start, but it requires relentless passion to finish. Leading without passion is like having no seed, but expecting a bountiful harvest. You’re only going to get but so far. Therefore, passion is one of the most vital components that a leader must have.

Passion is contagious. When people feel your passion, it makes them want to partake in the very thing that you’re passionate about. If you’re a leader, but you lack passion, the following are inevitable:

  • Your team won’t have passion.
  • Your staff won’t have passion.
  • Your church members won’t have passion.
  • Your customers won’t have passion.

Not only will you fail, but your team will fail…your ministry will fail…your business will fail. You see, it’s easy to plant the seed, but passion is what waters that seed…and helps you to endure to fruition.

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”

Galatians 6:9 NLT
