Redeeming Love

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace that He lavished on us…”

Ephesians 1:7-8

One of the greatest aspects of true love is its ability to redeem.  One of the definitions of redeem is “to purchase for a specific price and to bring back to the original state of relationship.”  This is what our Creator did for us and what we as extensions of His creative power, must practice doing for others.  There is a level of love that is so powerful it can redeem through forgiveness.  This love is so strong that it forgives and it heals.  This love offers redemption to those who have wronged us and caused us pain.

Acknowledging and accepting this type of love brings incomparable healing for the giver and for the receiver.

Redeeming love is a love that is so powerful it guides us on our Journey.  This love directs us through the hill and valleys that make up our predestined path.  As we submit to and follow the leading of redeeming love, we find ourselves in a place of healing and wholeness.  We awaken with our spirits being renewed, refreshed and rebuilt to go to the next level.  As we walk through each day, we will find opportunities to use this level.  The challenge is to surrender to its power.  In doing so, we are empowered and uplifted and can be a source of love for others.

Redeeming love embodies the power of our Creator.  Nothing can compare to it.  Think about it.  The very creation that He created chose to walk away from Him.  They chose to follow after their carnal desires rather than maintain an intimate relationship with Him.  Wow!  How many of us have experienced the loss of love from someone choosing someone or something other than us?  It’s not a good feeling is it?

Well, our Creator loves to be loved just like we do.  He wants to be wanted just like we want to be wanted.  He needs to be needed just like we need to be needed.  After all, we are created in His image.

Yet, instead of destroying the wandering creation, He designed a plan of redemption.  He set in motion the steps to purchase back His prized creation and to bring it back into right relationship with Him.  My goodness, there is nothing like redeeming love!

In the Bible there is one of the greatest stories of Redeeming Love ever told.  It tells of a man named Hosea who was instructed by God to marry a much known prostitute.  Of course, society frowned on this union, but God had another plan.  Through the consistency of expressing his love for her, Hosea was used by God to help Gomer experience the uniqueness of redeeming love.  What a love story!

This month is known as the “Love Month.”  I encourage you to seek out and pursue opportunities to share this awesome love.  Seek to have restoration in your life.  If you have been wounded by others, seek for the chance to heal.  Remember, forgiveness is about YOU, not them.  Let’s continue to move forward by releasing the power of Redeeming Love into our spirits.  Happy Love Month to you!!!
