“That’s Not My Calling…”

By Billie Miller “The Motivational Minister”

“The great men and women of history were not great because of what they earned and owned. They were great because they gave themselves to people and causes that lived beyond them.”

~ Joyce Meyer

Have you received Jesus? Are you a born-again Christian? If so, then God has declared you righteous. You are the righteousness of God. Say that out loud, “I am the righteousness of God!” As the righteousness of God, there are certain things that you should be doing. You should be reaching the lost. You should be getting people saved. You should be changing other people’s lives with the Word of God. You should be helping people get delivered. You may be saying, “Well, I’m not called to be an evangelist…or I’m not called to be a preacher…”  You figure that’s not your calling so it’s not your responsibility. So you leave it up to the preachers and ordained ministers. But it’s not just the pastor’s job to win souls to Christ. It’s not just the evangelist’s job to minister to the lost. Once you’re saved, it’s your job as well.

“But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him].”

2 Cor. 5:18 AMP

The word “reconcile” means to restore to friendship or harmony; to restore to one accord, agreement, and covenant; to settle or resolve. God has restored your friendship. God has restored you to harmony with Him. He has restored you to covenant with Himself. He has totally changed your Life. Not only did God reconcile you to Himself, but He gave you the ministry of reconciliation. In other words, God has restored your friendship and has given you the ministry to go out and restore others. God totally changed your life, so you can totally change someone else’s. He saved you so you can get others saved. God didn’t save you just for you to go to heaven.

If that were the case, then you would die immediately once you received Christ. Then your mission and purpose would be fulfilled. But that’s not the case because you’re still here. So God must have a purpose for your Life other than you going to heaven. Regardless of your God-given vision and the specific purpose He made you, He saved you so you can get someone else saved. He healed you, so you can lead others to health. He prospered you, so that your prosperity can spill over into someone else’s life. God blessed you, so you can be a blessing (Genesis 12:2).

Studying the Scriptures, applying what you learn, and getting results is a form of prosperity. The highest level of prosperity is when you can make that same thing happen for someone else. Your purpose isn’t just being a Christian. Your purpose starts with being a Christian. Once you receive salvation you become a minister. Every Christian is called to preach or proclaim the gospel. You may not be behind the pulpit. You may not wear a Bishop’s robe. You may not be in the 5-fold ministry (Ephesians 4:11), but every Believer is a minister. For example, everyone is not called to the music ministry. Therefore, does that mean you should not praise and worship God? Of course not! Likewise, every Believer is not called to be an evangelist (Ephesians 4:11), but every Believer is called to do the work of an evangelist (2 Timothy 4:5).

“It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor).”

2 Corinthians 5:19 AMP

“That’s not my calling” is no longer an excuse for you to be inactive. Whether you’ve discovered your calling or not, if you’re a Christian you should be sharing the gospel. God not only wants you to “come” and “receive” His life-changing Word. He also wants you to “go” and “preach” His Word to others and change their lives.

“And the [instructions] which you have heard from me along with many witnesses, transmit and entrust [as a deposit] to reliable and faithful men who will be competent and qualified to teach others also.”

2 Timothy 2:2 AMP
