When Perfection Fails Author Tyora Moody

VR: Why did you start your business?

TM: I like to tell people my business found me. It was at a time in my life where I think God was sending me in a new direction. I never set out to start Tywebbin Creations LLC, but in 1999, my first client came knocking. At the time I was really creating websites for a hobby and the question was asked, “If I would do this for pay?” I did my research and decided to do the website. Since 1999, I have worked with countless authors developing an online presence. Tywebbin has grown and expanded and some of my popular services include online publicity, social media management, book trailers and book covers.

VR: How do you balance being an author and your business?

TM: It’s certainly not easy! I have had to give up some services that I used to do in my business and really focus on what are my strengths. How can I really meet the needs of my clients? The first part of the week is usually dedicated to clients and as I draw closer to the weekend, I pick-up my own writing projects.

Some weekends I may write, rewrite or edit a chapter here and there. Having a calendar or goals really helps. I often plan six to twelve months out.

VR: Where do you see your business in 10 years?

TM: I’m moving into a new season that I got glimpse of back in 2011. I’m feeling more pulled to speak and teach, so I see myself continuing to provide book packaging and marketing services to authors, but also teaching. I plan to start doing online and offline events.

VR: What are your upcoming projects for 2014.

TM: Well, I have a few literary projects in 2014. The Literary Entrepreneur’s Toolkit, the first book from the DIYwithTy Book Series will be released January 2014. The third and final book in the Victory Gospel Series, When Perfection Fails, will be released March 2014. I hope to release the second book in the Eugeena Patterson Mysteries by the end of 2014.
